What we mostly do

Categorised rides are for those who enjoy road riding and provide a good mix of routes/locations (cafes).

Generally speaking it's "longer distance and more hills" the higher the category. A ride's categorisation is calculated based on distance and elevation gained. It's not perfect of course so you should always check the provided route/elevation profile in advance.

The following provides some generalized descriptions of the categorisation:

A - 25-30 miles, not too hilly (though the world is not flat so please don't come with that expectation)

B - 30-45 miles (some more miles and hills so definitely more challenging).

C - 40-55 miles (a few more miles and hills increasing in effort)

D - 50+ miles (the most miles and hills for the experienced road rider)

Throughout the year there's a mix of categories planned. Though not a rule, the lower and higher category rides are swapped each weekend to accommodate those that can only ride on a specific day.

Most rides are only accessible to group members.

For Category B and above rides we will generally not wait for riders that fall behind.
