When the opportunity arose to take on the running of the “Heart of England”, we wanted to both recognise its history but also highlight the transition by giving the event a new name. With around 100 km of the 300 km route being new, it felt right that this should be more than simply Heart of England with a new organiser. Welcome to “The Clansman”.
We're proud to be taking on the event that Peter (Holden) built and ran for 25 years, and grateful for the opportunity to help it continue, giving many more riders the chance to experience the roads, challenge and character that have made it special.
A challenging ride, starting in Tadpole Garden Village, 1 info controls and 4 controls (2 FREE).
The Audax distance award is 300K and it is a BRM (PBP qualification) event.
We operate all audaxes as shoestring+ events as we do not have access to a community hall/space.
We always provide refreshments (hot and cold) and light snacks at the start and end of each Trooper Series event. Those who have attended one of our events before will know there's usually a surprise at the end!
To fit within TGV Audax's event framework, the route starts at our usual location in Tadpole Garden Village, Swindon, before heading north to the customary control at Alcester. From there, the route remains largely unchanged, passing through Atherstone, Kirkby Mallory, Daventry and Kidlington. The final section has been revised to take the most direct route back to Tadpole Garden Village in Swindon.
At 314 km, the new route is also slightly longer than HoE. Also, please note we do not provide sleeping facilities pre or post ride.

The main TGV Audax Trooper Series rides (scheduled between April and July 2027) are a great way to experience Audax events. The series is designed to be progressionary with enough time to prepare you and your bicycle for the next increment in distance.
As an added incentive, riders who complete all four rides (500 km) in the series will receive a complimentary patch.
